It is said in the Amitabha Sutra. Even if birds and wild animals hear the sound of the mantra of this Amitayus, they will not regress from Bodhi and will become Buddhas. From the heart mantra of Amitayus, it is said that whoever correctly recites the name of Amitayus will not experience the fear of fire, the fear of water, the fear of poison, the fear of weapons, the fear of yakshas, the fear of rakshasas, except for the maturation of previous karma. Moreover, it is also said in the Purification Tantra that if one receives the empowerment of Amitayus, those with short lives will become long-lived, those with little merit will become meritorious, and those who fall into evil destinies will be liberated from evil destinies. In particular, this sutra is called "Great Life Radiance Red Light," in which it says: Alas! This Great Life Radiance Red Light is what Vajrapani asked, what Samantabhadra spoke, and what Amitayus heard. This benefit is inconceivable. Just hearing this with your ears can eliminate the sins of a thousand kalpas, and the obscurations of nine thousand lifetimes can be purified.
