Collected Teachings of Master Bodong Chogle Namgyal JCN14, A Concise Explanation of the Meaning of View, Meditation, Conduct, and Result by Chöjé Sonam and Duljawa Gewai Kawa Phyogs las rnam rgyal (Victorious in All Directions). A Concise Explanation of the Meaning of View, Meditation, Conduct, and Result by Chöjé Sonam and Duljawa Gewai Kawa Phyogs las rnam rgyal (Victorious in All Directions). A Concise Explanation of the Meaning of View, Meditation, Conduct, and Result by Chöjé Sonam and Duljawa Gewai Kawa Phyogs las rnam rgyal (Victorious in All Directions). Namo Guru! Well explained pure view, meditation, and conduct, The fortunate attain the supreme result. Respectfully prostrating to the feet of the Dharma Lord Guru, A concise explanation of view, meditation, conduct, and result will be made clear. Here, the yogi should practice the essence of accomplishment, and for the sake of a few faithful ones who dislike elaborate words, a brief explanation of the meaning of view, meditation, conduct, and result will be given. First, defining the meaning of view: The teachings of the Buddha rely on the two truths. For now, the reality of the conventional truth is: Appearances arise dependently. If this is well analyzed, nothing is established, and its nature is emptiness. When not examined or analyzed, it appears in various ways, but the appearances are not true as objects, like dreams and illusions. This is to be known as the reality of the conventional truth. The reality of the ultimate truth: Those who speak of the tenets of the Madhyamaka of the characteristic vehicle say: 'These appearing objects, If analyzed with reason, Nothing can be found. Unfindable is ultimate, The nature that has always been.' Thus, the conventional truth of appearances arising dependently, if truly understood, is that nothing is established. This is considered the reality of the ultimate truth. Although many think so, this is only a characteristic of the ultimate truth as taught in the Madhyamaka of the characteristic vehicle. Ultimately, the ultimate truth as taught in the Mantrayana is: As Arya Deva said: 'A moment free from darkness, Extremely clear light of wisdom, The nature of constant appearance, Is the characteristic of the ultimate truth.' The wisdom nature is luminosity, seen with the eye of wisdom. Thus, the nature of the minds of all sentient beings is self-luminous, the emptiness endowed with all perfections, which is the object of the wisdom of individual self-awareness. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since everything is empty of inherent existence, free from all elaborations, the essence of the Thus-Gone One (Dezhin Shegpai Nyingpo), and the statement of the first Buddha (Dangpoi Sangye), should be understood as the ultimate truth in the context of the ultimate Samadhi (Nyamzhak) Vehicle. Thus, correctly understanding the nature of the two truths (Denpa Nyi) is pure view (Tawa). The meaning of meditation (Gompa) is that the luminosity of the nature of mind (Semkyi Chonyi) is made manifest through the special means of binding actions, and to place one's mind single-pointedly without any distraction is ultimate meditation. Temporarily, all phenomena of inner and outer dependent arising appear, yet they are empty in their true nature. By familiarizing oneself with understanding them as dreamlike and illusory, one practices post-meditation (Je Thop) or temporary meditation. Conduct (Chöpa) is the common conduct of the Great Vehicle (Thekchen), which is to generate the mind of aspiration Bodhicitta (Mönjuk Changchubkyi Semkyé) and the mind of engaging Bodhicitta (Njuk Changchubkyi Semkyé), and to benefit beings through direct and indirect means in a way that does not cling to self and others. All actions that are free from misdeeds should be accompanied by the generation of the Great Vehicle mind and mindfulness (Dren Shezhin). Ultimately, the uncommon conduct of the Mantra Vehicle (Ngakkyi Thekpa) is to ensure that all actions are inseparable from the pride (Nga Gyal) of the Yidam deity (Yidam Lha), and to cultivate the practice of the six perfections (Par Chin Druk) in their definitive meaning, as well as upholding the vows (Damtsik) of the six families, and so on. The meaning of the result (Drébu) is that by practicing the pure view, meditation, and conduct, one accumulates the accumulation of wisdom of Samadhi (Nyamzhak Yeshekyi Tsok) and the accumulation of merit in post-meditation (Je Thoptu Sönamkyi Tsok). The awareness (Rikpa) of the yogi dissolves into the luminosity of the nature of reality (Chonyi), which is emptiness (Tongpanyi) endowed with all supreme aspects. Thus, the yogi attains the accomplishment of the Great Seal (Chag Gya Chenpo), the Dharmakaya (Chökyi Ku) that is inherently present within oneself, free from temporary stains, which is the ultimate perfection of self-benefit. Furthermore, through this power, one manifests appearances of form bodies (Zuk Kui Nangwa) that tame beings according to their needs, continuously accomplishing the benefit of beings as long as samsara exists, which is the ultimate perfection of other-benefit. Therefore, understanding the ultimate perfection of both self-benefit and other-benefit is the meaning of the result. By the virtue of this composition, may all beings fully enter the pure path of view, meditation, and conduct, and attain the supreme city of liberation! This is a concise summary of the meaning of view, meditation, and conduct, written by Kusulupa.
