Dispelling Obstacles. Dispelling Obstacles. Second, there are four ways to elaborate on the identification of various distinctions. The first is to perform rituals for the deceased one or two days after the separation of body and mind; the second is how to bestow instructions on the dying person who is about to separate body and mind; the third is how to dissolve the vows of the supreme vow-holders such as lamas two or three days after their passing; and the fourth is how to clarify the vows of the vow-holders such as lamas at the actual time of death. Among these four, the first is to explain how to perform rituals for the deceased one or two days after the separation of body and mind, which is also divided into two: First, if the person who is the basis is of superior capacity, then support the samadhi of profound view; for those of intermediate or lower capacity, correct their own motivation, without mixing with the eight worldly concerns, especially fame, desire, and face-saving, as well as bad thoughts such as pursuing food and wealth, focus on the deceased, and with love, compassion, and bodhicitta towards all sentient beings who are like mothers pervading the sky, in this special state of mind, perform the ritual of blessing one's own lineage, recite the prayers of the four ways to turn the mind, perform the guru yoga in either elaborate or concise form, meditate and recite the self-generation of Mahakarunika, and recite the mani mantra as much as possible, so that the three aspects of appearance, sound, and awareness awaken as the play of deity, mantra, and wisdom, thereby ensuring the ability to prevent ordinary clinging to appearances. Then, for the ritual of benefiting others, place vajra bell, hand drum in front of oneself, purification items such as gugul and yung for purifying obstacles and sins, three items of water, fire, and sesame, food offerings, and all necessary offerings, etc. First, purify the basis with "Om Vajra Krodha Haya Grīva Hūṃ Phaṭ (藏文,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ vajra krodha haya grīva hūṃ phaṭ,汉语字面意思:Om, Vajra, Wrathful, Horse-necked One, Hum, Phat)." Purify it into emptiness with Svabhava. From emptiness, on top of a lotus moon, from the syllable "Nri" arises the corpse of the deceased, with all its aggregates, elements, and sense bases complete, just like a living person. Visualize oneself as the noble Avalokiteśvara, from the syllable "Hrih (藏文,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:hrīḥ,汉语字面意思:Hrih)" in the heart, rays of light like iron hooks emanate, striking the consciousness of the deceased, wherever it may be in the five aggregates and six realms, just like a magnet attracting iron filings, it is involuntarily hooked and dissolves into the basis in front. Hum! I am the noble Avalokiteśvara!

Ah, from the heart of the Great Compassionate One, rays of great compassion emanate, instantly attracting all deceased beings of the three realms and five paths, wherever they may be in the six realms of samsara, to this very place! Together with the seal of the iron hook. Homage to the noble and venerable root and lineage gurus, and the truth of the Buddha's words, the truth of the Dharma's words, the truth of the Sangha's words, the truth of the secret mantra, vidyā mantra, dhāraṇī, heart mantra, mudra, samadhi, the truth of the self-purification of Dharma-nature, and the truth of the infallible cause and effect of phenomena. Especially from the Akanishta pure land of the three kayas, from the Dharmakaya Samantabhadra down to the present kind root guru, the lineage of the Buddhas' intention, the lineage of the vidyadharas' symbols, the lineage of the individuals' ear-whispered teachings, the lamas of the Tibetan and Chinese vidyadharas and siddhas, the truth of the ocean of assemblies, from the spontaneously accomplished peaceful mandala, the forty-two deities of the Vajradhatu, from the great charnel ground where wrathful ones play, the fifty-eight deities of the blazing, blood-drinking wrathful ones, and so on, the truth of the four classes of yidam tantras, and the deities and retinues of the mandalas of the nine successive vehicles, the truth of the assemblies, from the great charnel ground of the sky-faring realm, the five classes of dakinis, the swift-moving dakinis, the sisters, yoginis, and heroes, the truth of the ocean of hundreds of thousands of billions of deities, emanations, re-emanations, hand-images, and so on, from the palace of strict commands and vows, the protectors of the Dharma, oath-bound ones, and so on, who are accomplished through wisdom and worldly means, the truth of the ocean of assemblies, relying on the power and blessing of the great truth, today, from this world to the other world, the consciousness of the deceased so-and-so, wherever it may abide in the underworld, on the earth, above the earth, in the six realms of beings, the five paths, or the intermediate state of existence, may it be attracted to this object of focus, the physical body, in an instant!
