The root of the Thirty Verses on Grammar and the Introduction to Signs. The root of the Thirty Verses on Grammar and the Introduction to Signs. The root of the Thirty Verses on Grammar resides. In Sanskrit: Byākaraṇa-mūla-triṃśat-nāma. In Tibetan: Called "The Root of the Thirty Verses on Grammar." Homage to Mañjuśrī, the Lord of Speech. To the one who possesses supreme qualities, I pay homage to that precious one. To the one who spoke the sounds of language, I pay homage to Mañjuśrī. To the one who first spoke the base of names, I pay homage to the eternally peaceful one. Having paid homage to the skillful ones who have composed well, And also to the Lamas, Holding the foundation of all teachings, And the cause of those who speak of knowledge, The basis of all names, words, and expressions, I shall explain the combination of letters. Letters are of two kinds: vowels and consonants. Vowels are four, such as "i". Consonants are exactly thirty. Of these, ten are post-suffixes. Five of these also function as pre-prefixes. Twenty do not function as suffixes. The consonants are eight and a half groups, divided into groups of four. The lower two of the first, third, and fourth groups, the third of the sixth group, and except for "sha" in the seventh group, are considered the ten post-suffix letters. Of the ten post-suffix letters, the first, third, fifth, sixth, and seventh also function as pre-prefixes. Two or three base letters are connected, Even if they have a vowel base, They cannot be added anywhere, nor can they be combined. The ten post-suffix letters, added to the end of any name, add the fourth vowel to it. This should be understood as a restatement. Of the ten post-suffix letters, if the tenth letter is at the end of a name, then add the second vowel to it. If the eighth letter is at the end of a name, then add "u" to the second vowel. If the third letter is at the end of a name, then add the second vowel to it. The fourth and ninth letters are also actual, indicating object, purpose, location, and place, as well as that and time. The ten post-suffix letters are called the rules that agree with "i". The first two letters agree with the first letter, the third, fifth, and tenth letters are combined with "kya", the seventh letter agrees with the seventh letter itself, and the remaining letters are combined with "gya". These are the places of connection with the addition of "i". Add the tenth letter to that itself, It should be known as the agent. Having removed the vowel and added the second letter, are two ornaments of words.

I shall be gathered. ༈ For the word "ལ་", after removing "ཨུ་" from "སུ་ལ་", then add the first letter of the third word to it, and then add the third letter of "ཨཱ་ལི་" to it, that is the remaining part. ༈ Among the ten suffixes, adding the sixth letter is distinguishing and gathering. ༈ Among the ten suffixes, the fourth, ninth, and tenth added together, is the source place, distinguishing and gathering are also the same. ༈ At the beginning of any noun, adding "ཀྱེ་" is calling. ༈ Any that matches the end of a noun, adding "ཨི་" to the fourth letter, it becomes a word of distinguishing and emphasizing. ༈ In the middle of any noun, adding the second letter to the third letter, that is gathering, distinguishing, reason, time, occasion, and the five instructions. ༈ At the beginning of any noun, adding the second letter to the first letter, it becomes a universal covering. ༈ Any end of the eye, without the sound of masculine gender, if adding masculine gender, it should be understood as the place of the owner. ༈ Any beginning of a noun, without the sound of feminine gender, if adding feminine gender, it should be understood as the place of negation. ༈ Any beginning of a noun, adding "ཨེ་" to the third letter, from the perspective of words, it is three, from the perspective of things, it becomes four, from the perspective of time, it is two. ༈ If there are some omissions in the conjunctions of verses, they should be connected in the same way. ༈ Whether there is a prefix or not, whatever the root letter is, whether two letters are connected or three letters are connected, whichever of the four vowels is connected, if the ten suffixes are not added, it is impossible to connect other words. ༈ If the meaning of the ten suffixes is understood, then there is no obstacle in the connecting sounds of questioning, reading, and telling, and it will become the highest of those who are good at expressing connections. ༈ Furthermore, by knowing the suffixes, even if the connection of meaning is not seen, the connection that matches the meaning can be understood. ༈ If one is proficient in the connection of suffixes, then by combining the meaning of the scriptures, the connection, and the guru's instructions, the meaning can be brought to reality. ༈ A person who strives to learn, first needs to study various phonetics, the prefix, suffix, and root, these three are learned for the sake of reading. The connection of the four suffixes is connected for the sake of hearing, thinking, and teaching. Through the power of these instructions, it is for the purpose of the fruit.
