Sutra Section. Sutra Section. Third, regarding the categories of how the Buddha's words and treatises were translated into Tibetan, there are two First, there are two types: Buddha's words and treatises. Among the Buddha's words, there are three turnings of the Dharma wheel. The first turning of the Dharma wheel is the teaching on the Four Noble Truths. Among the four sections of the Vinaya, the first is the Vinaya-vastu, which contains 32,700 shlokas, complete in 109 fascicles, translated by Pal Tsek. In the Vinaya-vibhanga, the Bhikshu-vibhanga contains 24,900 shlokas, in 83 fascicles, translated by Klu'i Gyaltsen. The Bhikshuni-vibhanga has 28 fascicles, translated by Pal gyi Lhunpo and Pal Tsek. Regarding the Vinaya-kshudraka-vastu, some say that only the first six of the eight sections of the Kshudraka-vastu were translated. Some versions say that when the Kshudraka-vastu was translated, many translators divided the work, resulting in the loss of fascicles 39 and 43. Whether these two were not translated from the beginning or were translated and then lost, one should consult the great translator Paljor and investigate. Also, one should compare with the Sanskrit original. The Chimphu catalog states that 52 fascicles of the Vinaya-kshudraka-vastu were translated but left unfinished. The Denkar catalog states that the root shlokas of the Vinaya-kshudraka-vastu contain 24,600 shlokas, in 42 fascicles. Since there are many such doubts, one should not blindly follow hearsay, but rather consult the commentary by Acharya Tsultrim Gyang, the "Explanation of the Words of the Kshudraka-vastu," which has 59 fascicles, translated by the translator Paljor, and take this as authoritative. The upper Vinaya text, the one that has been completely revised, has 53 complete fascicles, and the one that has not been completely revised has 12 fascicles. These two are also called the root text. These Vinaya texts explain seventeen matters, from the basis of ordination to the basis of dwelling. The Bhikshu-vibhanga explains the 253 precepts of the bhikshus. The Bhikshuni-vibhanga explains the 360 precepts of the bhikshunis. The upper Vinaya text explains in detail the meaning of the root matters and the separate matters.

It is like... Those subtle points are like supplementing what is lacking. In the root Vinaya, the Pratimoksha Sutra for monks has seven hundred shlokas, in two volumes; the Pratimoksha Sutra for nuns has eight hundred shlokas, also in two volumes, both translated by Klu'i rgyal mtshan. These two Pratimoksha Sutras were composed by the Arhat Dharma Merchant, so some say they are not the words of the Buddha. Some say that even if they are the words of the Buddha, there are four teachers: the Buddha, Near-Round, Dharma Merchant, and Immaculate Friend, making a total of four. It is very strange for one teaching to have four teachers. My teachers consider the "Four Divisions of the Vinaya" and the "Manifestation of Enlightenment Sutra" to be treatises, but this is merely their opinion. These are the sections on the Vinaya. Furthermore, there are those spoken later and various other contents. Those of the Hinayana will be explained in one place, namely the "Noble Sutra on the Establishment of Mindfulness," one volume, translated by Pa tshab Tshul khrims rgyal mtshan. This translator made it into the Mahayana, but in the great catalogs, it is explained as Hinayana. The "Brahma Net Sutra," two volumes; the "Great Illusory Net Sutra," one volume and forty shlokas; the "Great Collection Sutra," one volume; the "Great Sutra Corresponding to Those Who Wander and Those Who Do Not Wander," one volume and fifty shlokas; the "Sutra Welcomed by Embodied Essence," half a volume; the "Emptiness Sutra," ninety shlokas; the "Great Emptiness Sutra," half a volume; the "Supreme Banner Sutra," forty shlokas; these seven are translations by Yeshe De and others. The "Holy Banner Sutra," forty shlokas; the "Fifth Third Sutra," two hundred and twenty shlokas; these two are translations by Yeshe De. The "Stone Throwing Sutra," two volumes; the "Noble Person Sutra," two hundred shlokas, translated by Zang skyong and Dpal brtsegs. The "Joyful Ordination Sutra," fifty shlokas, translated by Tsangs de wa ndra. The "Deva Sutra," thirty-seven shlokas; the "Concise Deva Sutra," seventeen shlokas, translated by Yeshe De. The "Moon Sutra," thirteen shlokas; the "Multi-Storied House Sutra," sixty shlokas, translated by Ratna Rakshita. The "Abiding Sutra," twenty shlokas, translated by Dpal brtsegs and others. The "Joy
