As a disciple of Master Vasubandhu, Endowed with Virtue Light, skilled in the Vinaya itself, it is said in the Extensive Commentary: The great holder of the Vinaya of the Sarvastivada, the Brahmin teacher, Venerable Endowed with Virtue Light, who has reached the other shore of the ocean of tenets of self and others, with the essence of the nectar of the Dharma-Vinaya of the Sugata, the power of wisdom is vast, the command of the Tathagata, diligently practicing with a sincere heart. Possessing such qualities, he composed the Vinaya Sutra, the Karma Shataka, the commentary on the Ethics Chapter of the Bodhisattvabhumi, and the self-commentary on the Vinaya Sutra, and so on. Some believe that the Karma Shataka was made by the subdued deity. Some consider this teacher to be a disciple of Nearsighted, while others consider him a disciple of Sudarsana, but because the times are different, it should be recognized as an error. The upper Vinaya texts, Sudarsana will not fail to appear, nor will he lower the price, and it is said that he explained it to Endowed with Virtue Light, which needs to be investigated. It is said that Endowed with Virtue Light lived for four hundred years. It is said that his disciple was Shakya Light, which is not true. In the Garland of Light, it says: My abbot is the ornament of Magadha, who has gained fame. I heard from Sonam Dakpa that these explanations of my own Vinaya rituals are the basis of the direction spoken by the three scholars. Furthermore, the lamas reside for a long time, and the famous Shanti Light has spread widely to me, with mindfulness, may I be enlightened, so I have made an explanation that clarifies the meaning. Thus, he is said to be a disciple of Sonam Dakpa and Shanti Light. It is said in the Three Hundred Verses that his disciple was Shakya Mitra. Shakya Light composed the Three Hundred Verses and its commentary, the Garland of Light. Dharma Mitra composed the Extensive Commentary on the Vinaya Sutra, and some consider him to be a disciple of Endowed with Virtue Light. It is said that Shakya Light's disciple was Lion Face, and his disciple was Jinamitra, which also needs to be investigated. Endowed with Virtue Light, skilled in the Vinaya itself.
