Instructions to Tönpa Le'u Instructions to Tönpa Le'u Guru Namo! In the teachings of the Buddha, you have obtained a precious human body. You possess the fullness of leisure and fortune. You have sought a true spiritual friend. From household to homelessness, you have fully renounced in your youth. Having encountered the Dharma of the Greater and Lesser Vehicles, you understand the faults of samsara and the benefits of nirvana. Through encountering the Dharma and its symbols, you are free from the faults of childhood. In this time when you have self-sovereignty, you must practice genuine Dharma. When practicing Dharma, engage with wisdom. Through repeatedly hearing the words of the Buddha (bka'), treatises (bstan bcos), and pith instructions (man ngag), open the eye of wisdom in the manifestation of the senses. Regarding the differences in philosophical tenets, consider the contradictions and connections of words and meanings, and open the eye of Dharma in the manifestation of mind and intellect. The three wisdoms and four manifestations, the three eyes and three yogas, this nature of ten and three, is the treasure of instructions to Tönpa Le'u. Furthermore, please listen to one heartfelt word. Because leisure is difficult to find, guard your vows. Because samsara is full of suffering, abandon the eight worldly concerns. Because all beings are your parents, cultivate compassion. Because accomplished gurus are difficult to find, generate devotion. In the nature of Dharma, which is free from elaboration, do not smear the stains of views. In the primordial, continuous, and uninterrupted state, do not defile it with intermittent meditation.
