Profound Instructions. Profound Instructions. To the kind and holy Lama, I prostrate and bow with reverence in body, speech, and mind. I will write down in words a little of these profound instructions from the holy Lamas. Awareness, ordinary mind, the three activities, and magnetizing, each unmixed, all are the interdependent connection of immaculate great bliss, and meditating on them as the three kayas is the ten essential points. Whatever faults there may be in writing down the oral instructions of the Lama, may the dakinis forgive them. By the virtue of writing this, may all beings without exception completely perfect the two accumulations and realize the two kayas. Good! Namo Guru. Homage to the Guru.) The first of the ten essential points of awareness. Meditate on the root Lama clearly in the center of your heart, and without interruption by other thoughts, experience your own awareness as the Lama. Also, meditate on the Lama at the crown of your head like a wish-fulfilling jewel, the king of power. By praying, may the needs and desires of both yourself and others be fulfilled. Also, meditate on yourself as the essence of the Lama's body, speech, and mind. Whatever prostrations, offerings, and services others perform, meditate on offering them to the Lama. This will not harm you, and the accumulation of others will increase. Second, cultivate loving-kindness, wishing beings happiness: Meditate on beings being happy as a mother sees her only child. Compassion, wishing beings to be free from suffering, like a mother suffering because her only child has fallen into a pit of fire, wishing to eliminate their suffering. Also, meditate on awareness, emptiness, and compassion as inseparable. In the continuum of beings, meditate on emptiness and compassion as inseparable. Especially to those who cause harm, may they have happiness, be free from suffering, and attain unsurpassed enlightenment. Third, from the heart of meditating on yourself as the yidam deity, radiate five-colored rays of light, corresponding to the four activities, accomplishing the activities of practice. Do not forget, meditate on the color blue. Fourth, cultivate your own awareness in accordance with all dharmas. Fifth, at the time of cultivating each of the five sense doors as your own awareness, form is not mixed with sound, sound is not mixed with smell, smell is not mixed with taste, taste is not mixed with touch, each is clearly distinct, cultivate your own awareness as unmixed. Sixth, in the realm of the six aggregates, everything appears, but not clinging to one, is the key point.

With the view of transforming cyclic existence and nirvana, regarding all things as objects through seeing, hearing, sensing, and knowing, meditate without experiencing anything as manifest. Seventh, by experiencing all phenomena of samsara and nirvana as self-aware wisdom, there is no place for ignorance that is not wisdom, and no place for the stains of afflictions, so one is not tainted. Eighth, by donning the armor of self-aware bliss, no matter what phenomena of pleasure or pain arise in body, speech, and mind, relax and meditate in bliss, so that everything appears as bliss. Ninth, in all the nadi locations of one's own body, and within the triangular red dharma origin of the nadi knots, draw the white bindus of the blue upper and lower winds. By filling the dharma origin and all the nadi locations with bindus, the interdependence of wind and mind is harmonized, and the experience of the three kayas of bliss, clarity, and non-thought arises. The signs and qualities of the three, nadis, winds, and bindus, arise from these three. Third, in the place where one dwells, on top of the great Mount Sumeru, on a lion throne and a lotus, sun, and moon seat, visualize oneself as the Nirmanakaya Shakyamuni Buddha, with a body color like pure gold, the right hand touching the earth, and the left hand in meditative equipoise. Rays of light emanate from the body, stimulating the mind-streams of sentient beings to be subdued by the body. Thinking that all sentient beings who see, hear, remember, or touch me will be purified of their sins and obscurations and attain the body of a Buddha, gather the light back. For sentient beings to be subdued by the Sambhogakaya, visualize oneself as the deity's Sambhogakaya, adorned with marks and signs, and visualize that all who see and hear attain the Sambhogakaya. For the purpose of subduing with the Dharmakaya, visualize oneself as the clear light Dharmakaya, free from all extremes, and visualize that all sentient beings who remember me also attain the clear light Dharmakaya. Good! Profound instruction.
