Ground, Path, and Fruition. Ground, Path, and Fruition. Namo Guru. Abiding in the ground, practicing on the path, the fruit ripens. Abiding in the ground means that the five qualities of the Tathagatagarbha—body, speech, mind, qualities, and activities—pervade all sentient beings. As it is said in the Tathagatagarbha Sutra: "The Tathagatagarbha pervades all beings." Furthermore, it is mentioned in many other scriptures. Now, if one thinks that samsara is suffering, it is because of ignorance that one has not realized it. To realize it, one needs a completely pure view. There are three: the view of realizing the nature of reality, the view of realizing one's own mind, and the view of blessings entering. The first is that all phenomena, samsara, nirvana, matter and mind, are not like impermanent emptiness, but are the nature of reality that has always existed. Such a nature of reality should be understood, but not practiced. Second, one must realize one's own mind. If one does not realize the mind, one cannot become a Buddha. The way the mind abides in both samsara and nirvana is: the eight consciousnesses and the twelve links of dependent origination. Among them, the alaya consciousness is: the ground is emptiness, and all are dharmas. This is also the state where awareness and emptiness are inseparable. Awareness does not recognize itself as emptiness, and the belief that emptiness needs to be realized from elsewhere is ignorance. Then, due to the actions of grasping and holding, consciousness is generated like a sprout. Phenomena such as ga shi appear as samsaric dharmas. Awareness knowing itself as emptiness, therefore appears as the dharma of nirvana. On the basis of emptiness, accumulating good and bad karma is done by the afflicted mind. The afflicted mind motivates consciousness, and because the afflicted mind accumulates karma of attachment and aversion towards the five sense consciousnesses, it appears as samsaric dharmas. Self-awareness wisdom takes the five objects as its objects, the afflicted mind and consciousness meet, and realizing that the alaya consciousness is emptiness, one attains nirvana. Alaya is the basis of all, but it is not a completely pure basis. That is to say, the basis of all dharmas of samsara and nirvana is the nature of reality, emptiness. The reason why it is not a completely pure basis is that the happiness and suffering that appear in samsara and nirvana will not turn into emptiness. Why is that so?

Na, this Dharma-nature of space is the basis, because both appearance and darkness appear. Also, it is pure and immutable, this Dharma-nature of appearance and darkness is not space, because it appears as two realms. Furthermore, the third, the view of entering blessing is, if you have devotion and pray to one true virtuous spiritual friend, then the blessing will enter, how to look at it, is to realize your own mind. Are the two views and the view of realizing Dharma-nature one or different? The one that combines the two is not acknowledged, only the similar one is one. If it is one, what is the fault? There is a difference between matter and consciousness. In addition, there is a key point that consciousness becomes matter. The Dharmakaya with consciousness is also the same, the one that combines the two is not acknowledged. If it is one, what is the fault? If one becomes a Buddha, then all become Buddhas. Is there a connection to this or not? Self-nature is one, so there is no connection arising from this. There is a conformity, just as how past Buddhas became Buddhas, so do I become a Buddha. Now there are three general meanings, the path is the ten bhumis, the five paths, etc. that have been spoken of, here are the generation stage and the completion stage. In the generation stage, from the five aggregates of complete imputation, the other-powered is sealed by the five Tathagatas, and the complete generation stage is cultivated. The completion stage is, although many things such as signs and signlessness have been spoken of, it is with the clarity of one's own mind, with the experience of bliss, and with the meaning of non-discrimination. The result is to become a Buddha with the three bodies and five wisdoms. The writing by Tishri Repa is complete. Ground, Path, and Fruit.
