A Song in Praise of Jigten Sumgön – The Celestial Melody of the Kalaviṅka A Song in Praise of Jigten Sumgön – The Celestial Melody of the Kalaviṅka Namo Ratna Mahā Guru. From the great Vajradhara, source of the unbroken lineage, To the precious lamas of the Kagyu lineage, like a second Buddha, The qualities passed on from one to the next, They attained the supreme and common siddhis. The teachings flourished and spread, And they performed immeasurable deeds for the benefit of beings. To the lamas of the lineage, I pay homage and praise. The actual, precious lama Is the essence of all the Buddhas. Toward all that can be known in the three times, The wisdom of the two knowledges has dawned. Interdependence has become manifest. The source from which all qualities arise, With compassion, he works for the benefit of beings. I praise Jigten Sumgön. His mind is primordially pure, Unstained by thoughts of any kind, A mind that does not abide anywhere, Without memory or mental activity. Spontaneously present, not corporeal, Pervading all and knowing all. The unborn, luminous dharmakāya, To the mind of the Lord of Dharma, I pay homage and praise. The letters A and Hūṃ, the winds, and so on, E Vaṃ Māyā, the speech of dharma, Sūtras, treatises, and pith instructions, Complete in every way, unmixed. The voice of Brahmā, lord of speech, Speaking the Dharma in every language, Performing the benefit of beings with sixty melodious sounds. To the speech of the Lord of Dharma, I pay homage and praise. The aggregates, elements, sense-fields, and so on, Toward all phenomena that are pure in their own nature, Base, path, result, and the four empowerments are complete. Manifest in the maṇḍala, the assembly of deities. The seal of the adamantine mind of Akṣobhya, Vajradhara, the five families as one taste, Radiant with marks and signs, To the body of the Lord of Dharma, I pay homage and praise. Toward the dharmas of body, speech, and mind, The qualities of both saṃsāra and nirvāṇa, Knowing the equality of existence and peace, The very essence of the indivisible three kāyas, Endowed with the seven branches, Complete with all the qualities and dharmas, Fulfilling the needs and desires of both self and others, To Jigten Norbu Rinchen, I pay homage and praise. With the nectar of the two bodhicittas, Although he knows the equality of pleasure and pain, His activity and wisdom are fruitful and accomplished. The pure activity of the vajra body, Toward beings who are fierce and difficult to tame, With the vast maṇḍala of loving-kindness, He places all in happiness. Homage! O Lord, in all realms of existence, You manifest various forms of enlightened body, From the pure wisdom of Dharmadhatu. According to the individual dispositions of beings to be tamed, Through various vehicles and skillful methods, You attain supreme and common siddhis, And ripen the white fruit. I prostrate and praise the incarnate Lord. Through offering and praising the Lord, May I and limitless sentient beings, Attain qualities equal to yours, And achieve the fruit of Buddhahood. May the compassion of the precious Lord, And my faith and reverence, Merge into the wisdom of non-duality of samsara and nirvana, May mind and heart become one. May the auspiciousness of the Lord attaining the three kayas, May the auspiciousness of possessing the Dharma nature of scripture and realization, May the auspiciousness of the Sangha gathering without turning back, Bring the auspiciousness of attaining Buddhahood to myself and others.
