A Concise Refuge and Bodhicitta. A Concise Refuge and Bodhicitta. Namo Guru. The precious Lama said: It is necessary to practice Dharma by relying on this human body. The human body is also impermanent. When the time of death comes, no one can help. Wealth cannot deceive death, bravery cannot fight death, speed cannot escape death, and cleverness cannot escape death. Intelligence, skill, and so on, nothing can help you; you must die. After death, you will not disappear. If you are born in the three lower realms, the suffering is like blisters on leprosy. Even if you are born as a human, the suffering of conditioned existence is like dust in the eyes. Even if you are born as a god or demigod, both have the suffering of change, like eating poison coated with honey. Therefore, no matter where you are born in the six realms, it is suffering. What saves us from suffering is the Three Jewels. If you take refuge in the Three Jewels, you will be saved from the fears of this life and all immediate harm. In the future, you will be saved from the suffering of the lower realms and the suffering of eternal samsara. In this world, all wishes will be fulfilled. Finally, you will quickly attain perfect enlightenment and benefit all sentient beings. In order to obtain such benefits, think of taking refuge in the Three Jewels and imitate (the actions of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas). Please, all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas abiding in the ten directions, be mindful of me. Please, Sangha, be mindful of me. I, named ..., from this time forth, until the end of my life, take refuge in the Buddha, the supreme of bipeds. I take refuge in the Dharma, the supreme of those free from desire. I take refuge in the Sangha, the supreme of assemblies. Recite three times; this is the method. Say "Good." Having thus taken refuge in the Three Jewels, you must learn the eleven precepts. First, the five common precepts are: remember the qualities of the Three Jewels and learn to take refuge. Always strive to make offerings to the Three Jewels, and do not abandon the Three Jewels even for the sake of life, kingdom, or reward. Whatever sickness and suffering may occur

Do not seek other places. Wherever you go, prostrate to the deities of that direction, make offerings, and take refuge. There are three special precepts: Having taken refuge in the Buddha, do not prostrate to other deities. Having taken refuge in the Dharma, do not harm sentient beings. Having taken refuge in the Sangha, do not associate with non-Buddhists. There are three subsequent precepts: Respect the objects of refuge, the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, do not abandon them, and it is very important to protect these precepts. Having these, you must generate bodhicitta. Lama Zhang Rinpoche said: If you do not generate bodhicitta, there is no connection with the Dharma. Therefore, generating bodhicitta is very important. It arises from accumulating merit, it arises from meditating on the four immeasurables, it arises from generating the perception of the Buddha in the virtuous friend, and it arises from special refuge, which will be explained below. Now, visualize that in the sky in front of you, all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are abiding as witnesses. For the benefit of all sentient beings, I will attain Buddhahood. For that purpose, I take refuge and generate bodhicitta. Think from the bottom of your heart and imitate. To the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Supreme Assembly, until enlightenment I take refuge. By the merit of my generosity and other virtues, may I attain Buddhahood for the benefit of beings. Oh, the first two lines obtain special refuge, and the latter two obtain aspirational bodhicitta. Having generated the supreme bodhicitta, you must train in five precepts: You must train to always remember the benefits of bodhicitta. You must train to accumulate the two accumulations. You must train to increase and cultivate bodhicitta. You must train not to abandon sentient beings. You must abandon the four black dharmas, and you must cultivate the four white dharmas. In short, having generated the supreme bodhicitta, do not let your body, speech, and mind indulge in evil and unwholesome aspects, and whatever you do, for the benefit of sentient beings, do not be distracted for even a moment, but must use it for virtuous deeds. Visualize yourself as the Lord Great Compassionate One, with one face and four arms, your body white like the sun rising over a snow mountain, your first two hands joined in prayer at your heart, your right

Below, count the rosary beads. In the left hand, hold a lotus flower. Sit in the vajra posture. Meditate on the body adorned with silk and various jewels. Recite Mani Padme with the mouth. In the mind, think like this: all phenomena of appearance and sound, whatever appears, are the appearance of one's own mind. However, it is not established as any essence, so it is emptiness. Mind, awareness, and emptiness are inseparable, which is the Dharmakaya. It is said that by meditating in this way, the body transforms into the Nirmanakaya, speech transforms into the Sambhogakaya, and mind transforms into the Dharmakaya, thus benefiting sentient beings. This is the oral instruction of Lama Rinpoche Tishri Repa. A concise ritual of refuge and generating bodhicitta. May it be auspicious!
