English

In the formation of accumulation stated in the third variation of meaning, that conjoined is meant as "is said to be". "Being a condition for action" refers to the condition of volitional formations. Thereby, it shows that in "at the time of performing action," the word "action" encompasses all volitional formations. Therefore, it says, "not only that which is conjoined with action." "Actions themselves" means actions only. They are similar to actions due to their nature of ripening. They are helpful to that action, being in the category of co-arisen and in the category of strong support, hence "helpful to them." "They are condensed" means they are collected, they are gathered. Having explained the meaning of the word "saṅkhepa" (condensation) in the sense of a locus, as "that wherein they are condensed," it is then said "they are condensed," etc., to speak in the sense of an agent. Even there, in the aggregate of actions mentioned as "action." "Having the nature of going" means having the nature of dissolution. Thereby, "transient" means beyond dissolution. By that word "transient," which indicates the nature of perishing, etc. It reveals their insubstantiality, their lack of self-essence. Thus, by "transient," etc., it shows the specific meanings of the four words: impermanent, unstable, transient, and not permanent. "Place" here refers to the condition. "Also another" means mentioned elsewhere. Of each and every fruit. The meaning is: when there is only the occurrence of phenomena, and when there is a cessation of the cycle. Thus, when the word "ca" (and) is in the sense of aggregation, in the manner stated. "The truths themselves are the origin" refers to the homogeneous aspect, hence it says "from the origin of truths" meaning "from truth." "The holy life is lived in the Blessed One for the abandonment of which" – such a noble truth, without making any distinction. By those sorrows, etc. By ignorance, which is established in the manner stated previously, as in "sorrow, lamentation, pain, grief, and despair are not separated from ignorance," etc. "By oneself only" means from the function called "occurring by oneself," without depending on what is conditioned. "Even sorrows, etc." Here, the word "hi" (indeed) has the meaning of cause. Since "sorrows, etc., are dependent on conditions and are not under control" is established by the statement "conditioned by birth... and they arise," therefore, that is a refutation of showing "the self grieves," etc. When there is and like a kingdom, grasping leads to many undesirable consequences, and to show that consciousness is afflicted by these, it is said, "grasped by formations... ...like a kingdom." Thus, this meaning should be understood here. Just as the actions and so forth, that have arisen, are conceived as if grasped by the proximate impulsion-moments of death, so too are they conceived as if by the rebirth-linking consciousness. And this conception of it, in essence, is the making of it into an object, as stated, "conceived... ...as an object." Or, conception is said to be "thinking by thought." The six sense bases, with their constituents, are a special foundation for the six sense bases. The kind of aging and death that arises from a particular kind of birth, and which occurs in due sequence, that meaning is the meaning of arising and coming together due to birth as a condition. The states of decay and dissolution of a being, who has come together and is assembled, are spoken of by the term aging and death. And this state of theirs is preceded by birth. And they occur only when assembled. Thus, the meaning of aging and death arising and coming together from birth should be understood. Aging and death are not absent from birth; they certainly exist, because aging and death arise for one who is born. And they do not exist without birth, because they are absent for one who is not born. Thus, the conditionality of birth for aging and death is elucidated by concomitance and disjunction, beginning with "not from birth." "In this way" states the manner of the arising of aging and death conditioned by birth. "Cessation is called cessation" means the cessation of the condition is called the cessation of the conditioned. And in the direct teaching, the connection is "starting from the middle." "A part of demeritorious formations is with passion" is said considering that it is one with passion, co-existent with passion. All demeritorious formations are with passion, due to being one in the aspect of abandonment. However, since an unwholesome state is homogeneous with an unwholesome state, and heterogeneous with a wholesome state, and is a condition as appropriate, therefore it is said, "because it is not an opponent, it increases passion." "That same consciousness runs on, transmigrates" means that due to the presence of wrong views, there is activity in the act of transmigration. are said to be of consciousness. It should be connected individually: by the strength of the inclination to activity, by the strength of the inclination to transmigration. By "not co-existing, co-existing," it shows that non-co-existence is distinct, and co-existence is not distinct. Illumination is the sign of understanding nature. For the five consciousnesses, relying on the eye and so on, perceive the nature of forms and so on. The others are the place of contact, connection, and conjunction. Of the six means of contact, of all six. By "grasping," even without the prefix, firm grasping is intended, so it says: "the meaning of grasping is common to all four kinds of clinging." By "taking," it is said that the object is covered by way of desire, "the meaning of taking is of clinging to sensual pleasures." Of the others, clinging to views and so on. Therefore, because the case ending is not dropped. By that, by the word "throwing away." Loss or the state of being worn out is decay, so "the meaning of decay" and so on is said. Of the two, aging and death. Or, because aging has the flavor of leading to death, the meaning of death is shown even in aging. They lead, they cause to go, these are the ways, unity and so on. By what are they led? By the meanings of ignorance and so on, this meaning is stated by "ignorance and so on." By its own nature, by its own nature of ignorance and so on, without abandoning it. For there is nothing called unity apart from ignorance and so on, in ultimate reality. Or, by its own nature, by its own nature of unity and so on. The nature of unity and so on, such as falling into a single continuum of cause and effect, which is understood in ignorance and so on, is known by that very nature, not by the nature of ignorance and so on. For they are to be led, these are their ways. Or, ignorance and so on are indeed the meanings. Even many similar phenomena, by which unbroken continuum they are known and spoken of as "one," that deserves to be spoken of as the instrument there, and similarly for the others, so it says: "and by unity and so on, the meanings are led as 'one' and so on." There, "are led" means are known, and are made known. Because of the continuous cessation and arising of former and latter phenomena for the mind-body, because of the connected existence of the physical body, and of both mutually Due to close connection, hard to discern their distinctness, as if they were one, a dense, continuous series, connected by cause and effect, thus correctly extended, is the continuum. Its non-interruption, such an occurrence, is oneness. Thus it is said: "The non-interruption of the continuum is oneness." "Without connection" means without mutual connection by way of cause and effect. "Another being" means a different being. "He grasps the annihilation view" means: Not seeing results arise from their proper causes, and seeing unconnected diversity as in different continua, when past phenomena cease, devoid of cause and and purpose, it is not proper for arising to be absolute due to no causal rule. Similarly, arising by continuum, arising by similarity, arising of similar birth, place, transformation, age, form, strength, and shape are not proper – thus pondering these and other such things, he grasps the annihilation view. "Why should there be no arising?" Just as oil from sand, or milk from a cow, are different from sesame or sugarcane, for what reason should their arising not be from those? Indeed, their arising is from others. "Therefore" means: If one thing arises from another, then everything should arise from everything. But this is not so, therefore. Because the fatalist does not desire results to arise from appropriate causes, but desires phenomena to occur as inherently established, therefore it is said, "even when the cause is absent." Indeed, inherently established, like an unbreakable jewel strung on an unbreakable thread, without deviation, bodies come together by fate for various transformations into states of body, sense organs, happiness, etc. From which come rebirths and bonds, and also liberation – this is the doctrine of fatalism. Therefore it is said, "by fixedness... (etc.) ...they occur." The meaning of 'niyati' has already been stated. A Sutta that proves this meaning. "Confused" means confusion, or that which is confused. "Entangled" means the entanglement arisen from defilements, kamma, and results, occurring in a downward and upward manner. "Nest" means a bird's nest. "Samsara" here refers to the continuous series of fortunate existences, and by terms like "lower realms" it refers to the continuous series of unfortunate existences. because it was stated. The description of the Wheel of Existence is finished. The description of the Suttanta division is finished. 2. The Abhidhamma Division Description 243. That dependent origination. Not making it confined within each single mind, as in the Abhidhamma division, not included within each single mind.
