(1) Conditioned phenomena are a condition for unconditioned phenomena by way of object-condition – On conditioned aggregates as impermanent…etc… displeasure arises; when wholesome and unwholesome states have ceased, When wholesome and unwholesome deeds cease, resultant rootless consciousness arises as that object. Taking root-conditioned aggregates as object, rootless aggregates and delusion arise. (2) A root-conditioned phenomenon is a condition by way of object for a root-conditioned phenomenon and a rootless phenomenon – taking root-conditioned aggregates as object, aggregates accompanied by doubt and accompanied by restlessness, and delusion arise. (1) A rootless phenomenon is a condition by way of object for a root-conditioned phenomenon – Noble Ones reflect on Nibbāna; Nibbāna is a condition by way of object for change-of-lineage, for purification, for the path, for the fruit. Noble Ones reflect on rootless defilements that have been abandoned, on defilements that have been suppressed... (etc.) ... previously... (etc.) ... the eye... (etc.) ... the base... (etc.) ... Taking rootless aggregates and delusion as impermanent... (etc.) ... sorrow arises; when wholesome and unwholesome deeds cease, resultant root-conditioned consciousness arises as that object; one sees forms with the divine eye; one hears sounds with the divine ear-element; by mind-penetrating knowledge, they know the mind of one endowed with rootless consciousness; rootless aggregates are a condition by way of object for knowledge of psychic powers, for mind-penetrating knowledge, for knowledge of past lives, for knowledge of future events; taking rootless aggregates and delusion as object, root-conditioned aggregates arise.
