2. Section on Enumeration 1. Among these, what are the sixteen hāras? Teaching, investigation, suitability, basis, characteristic, fourfold arrangement, revolving, division, transformation, synonym, designation, descent, purification, determination, requisite, imposition. Its accompanying chant: Teaching, investigation, suitability, and basis, and characteristic; And fourfold arrangement, and revolving, division, transformation. And synonym, and designation, and descent, and purification; Determination, requisite, imposition, the sixteenth. These sixteen hāras, are proclaimed as to meaning, unmixed; And of these, there is the division of methods by expansion. 2. Among these, what are the five nayas? Nandiyāvaṭṭa, Tipukkala, Sīhavikkīḷita, Disālocana, Aṅkusa. Its accompanying chant: The first is Nandiyāvaṭṭa, the second is Tipukkala; Called Sīhavikkīḷita, the third, the adornment of methods. They call Disālocana, the fourth, the excellent method; The fifth is called Aṅkusa, all five methods are completed. 3. Among these, what are the eighteen root-terms? Nine unwholesome terms, nine wholesome terms. Among these, what are the nine unwholesome terms? Craving, ignorance, greed, hatred, delusion, perception of beauty, perception of pleasure, perception of permanence, perception of self. These are the nine unwholesome terms, where all the unwholesome side is gathered and converges. Among these, what are the nine wholesome terms? Tranquility, insight, non-greed, non-hatred, non-delusion, perception of ugliness, perception of suffering, perception of impermanence, perception of non-self. These are the nine wholesome terms, where all the wholesome side is gathered and converges. Here is the summary: And craving, and ignorance, greed, hatred, and likewise delusion; And the four perversions, the nine terms of the defilement-plane. And tranquility, and insight, and the three wholesome roots; The four foundations of mindfulness, the nine terms of the faculty-plane. With nine terms wholesome, and with nine terms the unwholesome sides contend; These indeed are the root-terms, bha Eighteen items are uttered. The Recitation Section.
