he does not desire purity by other means. He is not attached, nor is he unattached. All foolish ordinary people are attached; the seven trainees, by virtue of their good qualities as ordinary people, become unattached; the Arahant is neither attached nor unattached. He, from lust's destruction, is without lust; From hatred's destruction, is without hatred; From delusion's destruction, is without delusion. He has completed the holy life, fulfilled the practice... The cycle of birth, aging, and death is ended for him, There is no rebirth for him— He is not attached, nor is he unattached. Therefore the Blessed One said: "The purified one does not conceive by that, Whatever is seen, heard, or sensed; He does not desire purity by other means, He is not attached, nor is he unattached."
