1. And after Phussa, the Fully Awakened One, supreme among two-footed beings; Named Vipassī, the Seer, arose in the world. 2. Having shattered all ignorance, he attained supreme enlightenment; To set in motion the Wheel of Dhamma, he set out for Bandhumatī city. 3. Having set in motion the Wheel of Dhamma, the leader enlightened both; Not to be counted, was the first realization. 4. Again, the one of immeasurable fame, there proclaimed the truth; For eighty-four thousand, was the second realization. 5. Eighty-four thousand, went forth after the Fully Awakened One; To those who had reached the monastery, the Seer taught the Dhamma. 6. Listening to him speaking in every way, those who were near; They too, having gone to the excellent Dhamma, had the third realization. 7. There were three assemblies, for Vipassī the Great Seer; Of those whose defilements were destroyed, stainless, with peaceful minds, such ones. 8. Of sixty-eight hundred thousand, was the first gathering; Of a hundred thousand monks, was the second gathering. 9. Of eighty thousand monks, was the third gathering; There, amidst the assembly of monks, the Fully Awakened One shone forth. 10. At that time, I was a powerful Nāga king; Named Atula, meritorious and radiant. 11. Surrounded by many crores of Nāgas, then I; Playing divine music, approached the foremost of the world. 12. Having approached the Fully Awakened One, Vipassī, the world's leader; Adorned with gems, pearls, and jewels, decorated with all ornaments; Having invited the King of Dhamma, I offered a golden seat. 13. That Buddha too, prophesied about me, sitting amidst the Sangha; "In the ninety-first eon, this one will become a Buddha. 14. "The Tathāgata, having left the delightful Kapilavhaya; Having striven with effort, having performed difficult ascetic practices. 15. "The Tathāgata, having sat at the foot of the Ajapāla tree; There, having accepted rice-milk, will go to the Nerañjarā. 16. "On the bank of the Nerañjarā, having eaten the rice-milk He will be a conqueror; By the prepared excellent path, he will approach the root of awakening. 17. Then, having circumambulated, the unsurpassed one, The circle of awakening, at the root of the Assattha tree, The greatly renowned one will awaken to perfect enlightenment. 18. His mother who gives birth, will be named Māyā; His father will be named Suddhodana, this one will be Gotama. 19. Without defilements, free from passion, with peaceful minds, composed; Kolita and Upatissa will be the chief disciples; Ānanda by name will be the attendant, he will attend this conqueror. 20. Khemā and Uppalavaṇṇā will be the chief female disciples; Without defilements, free from passion, with peaceful minds, composed; The awakening tree of that Blessed One is called Assattha. 21. Citta and Hatthāḷavaka will be the chief male lay attendants; Nandamātā and Uttarā will be the chief female lay attendants; The lifespan of that glorious Gotama will be one hundred years. 22. Having heard this speech... ...we shall be face to face with him. 23. Having heard her speech, I further gladdened my mind; I undertook a greater vow, for the fulfillment of the ten perfections. 24. The city was named Bandhumatī, the king was named Bandhumā; The mother was named Bandhumatī, of the great sage Vipassī. 25. For eight thousand years, he dwelt in the household; Nanda, Sunanda, Sirimā, were the three excellent palaces. 26. Forty-three thousand adorned women; That woman was named Sudassanā, her son was named Samavattakkhandha. 27. Having seen the four signs, he went forth by chariot; For not less than eight months, the conqueror exerted effort. 28. Being entreated by Brahmā, Vipassī, the leader of the world; The great hero, the supreme among men, set the wheel in motion in Migadāya. 29. Khaṇḍa and Tissa by name, were the chief disciples; Asoka by name was the attendant, of the great sage Vipassī. 30. Candā and Candamittā, were the chief female disciples; The awakening tree of that Blessed One, is called Pāṭalī. 31. Punabbasumitta and Nāga, were the chief male lay attendants; Sirimā and Uttarā, were the chief female lay attendants. 32. Eighty cubits high Shining, Vipassī, the world's leader; Light streams forth from him, all around for seven leagues. 33. Eighty thousand years, was the Buddha's life span; Remaining for that long, he saved many people. 34. Of many gods and humans, he released from bonds; And taught the path and non-path, to the remaining ordinary people. 35. Having shown the light, having taught the deathless state; Having blazed like a mass of fire, he was extinguished with his disciples. 36. Supreme psychic power, supreme merit, and the perfected marks; All that disappeared, are not all conditioned things empty? 37. Vipassī, the supreme conqueror, the Buddha, attained Nibbana in Sumitta Park; Right there his supreme stupa, was seven leagues high. The nineteenth account of Vipassī the Blessed One.
