Siddhattha Buddha Lineage 1. After Dhammadassī, Siddhattha by name, the leader; Having dispelled all darkness, Like the sun, he arose. 2. He too, having attained perfect enlightenment, Bringing peace to the world with its devas; Rained with the cloud of Dhamma, Extinguishing (suffering) for the world with its devas. 3. For him, of immeasurable glory, There were three realizations; Of a hundred thousand crores, Was the first realization. 4. Again, in Bhīmaratha, When he beat the drum (of Dhamma); Then of ninety crores, Was the second realization. 5. When the Buddha taught the Dhamma, In that excellent city, Vebhāra; Then of ninety crores, Was the third realization. 6. There were three assemblies, For that supreme among bipeds; Of those whose defilements were destroyed, pure, Of tranquil minds, such ones. 7. Of a hundred crores, of ninety crores, And also of eighty crores; These were the three occasions, Of the gathering of the pure ones. 8. I, at that time, Was an ascetic named Maṅgala; Of fierce glory, irresistible, Endowed with the power of supernormal knowledge. 9. Having brought a rose-apple fruit, I gave it to Siddhattha; Having received it, the Perfectly Enlightened One, Spoke these words. 10. "Behold this ascetic, With matted hair, of fierce austerity; In the ninety-fourth eon from now, This one will become a Buddha. 11. "Having striven with effort... (etc.) We shall be face to face with him." 12. Having heard his words, I further purified my mind; I undertook a higher vow, For the fulfillment of the ten perfections. 13. Vebhāra by name was the city, Udena by name was the warrior (king); Suphassā by name was the mother, Of the great sage Siddhattha. 14. For ten thousand years, He dwelt in the household life; Kokā, Uppala, Kokanadā, Were the three excellent palaces. 15. Thirty-six thousand, Were the adorned women; Somanassā by name was that woman, Anupama by name was the son. 16. Having seen the four signs, He went forth in a palanquin; For not less than ten months, The Conqueror strove with effort. 17. Being requested by Brahmā, Siddhattha, leader of the world; The great hero turned the wheel, The best of men, in Migadāya. 18. Sambala and Sumitta, were the chief disciples; Revata by name was the attendant, of Siddhattha, the great sage. 19. Sīvalā and Surāmā, were the chief female disciples; The Bodhi tree of that Blessed One, is called the Kaṇikāra. 20. Suppiya and Samudda, were the chief male patrons; Rammā and Surammā, were the chief female patrons. 21. That Buddha, sixty measures, was high in the sky; Like a golden mountain, he shone for ten thousand (worlds). 22. That Buddha, unequalled, incomparable, an unmatched person; For a hundred thousand years, the Seer remained in the world. 23. Having shown immense light, and made his disciples flourish; Having sported in attainments, he attained Nibbāna with his disciples. 24. Siddhattha, the supreme sage, the Buddha, attained Nibbāna in the Anoma Park; There, his supreme stupa, was four yojanas high. The lineage of the Blessed One Siddhattha, the sixteenth.
