He will attain Nibbāna, free from defilements.’ 76. Having come forth from the womb, Mindful and aware; At five years of age, I attained Arahantship. 77. To Tissa, the Blessed One, The world’s chief, the steadfast one; With a joyful heart, I planted an excellent Bodhi tree. 80. A tree named Asana, A tree growing from the earth; For five years, I attended to The excellent Asana Bodhi tree. 81. Seeing the tree in bloom, A wondrous, hair-raising sight; Proclaiming my own deed, I approached the best of Buddhas. 82. Then Tissa, that Sambuddha, The self-existent, the foremost person; In the assembly of monks, n Sitting down, he spoke these verses. 83. ‘By whom this Bodhi was planted, And the Buddha-worship honored; Him I shall praise, Listen to me speaking. 84. ‘For thirty aeons among devas, He will rule as king of devas; Sixty-four times, He will be a Wheel-turning Monarch. 85. ‘Indeed, having fallen from Tusita, Urged by wholesome roots; Having experienced two attainments, He will delight in human existence. 86. ‘With his mind set on exertion, Peaceful, without defilements; Having fully understood all defilements, He will attain Nibbāna, taintless.’ 87. I am devoted to solitude, Peaceful, without defilements; Like an elephant breaking its bonds, I dwell taintless. 88. Ninety-two aeons ago from here, I planted the Bodhi then; I do not know a bad destination, This is the fruit of planting the Bodhi. 89. Seventy-four aeons ago, Known as Daṇḍasena; Endowed with seven treasures, I was then a Wheel-turning Monarch. 90. Seventy-three aeons ago, There were seven kings; Named Samantanemi, Wheel-turning Monarchs. 91. Twenty-five aeons ago, A khattiya named Puṇṇaka; Endowed with seven treasures, A mighty Wheel-turning Monarch. 92.
