The Chapter of Twos 1. The Verses of the Elder Abhirūpanandā 19. "Sick, impure, putrid, See, Nandā, this body; Cultivate the mind on impurity, Unified, well-composed. 20. "Cultivate the signless, Abandon the latent tendency of conceit; Then, by the full understanding of conceit, You will wander peaceful." Thus indeed did the Blessed One repeatedly admonish Abhirūpanandā, who was training, with these verses. 2. The Verses of the Elder Jentā 21. "These seven factors of awakening, The path to the attainment of Nibbāna; All of them have been cultivated by me, As taught by the Buddha. 22. "Indeed, that Blessed One has been seen by me, This is my last body; The cycle of birth is exhausted, There is no more rebirth now." Thus indeed did the Elder Jentā utter these verses. 3. The Verses of the Elder Sumaṅgalamātā 23. "Well-freed, well-freed, I am well-freed from the mortar; My shameless little one, My cooking pot, like a water-snake. 24.
