The Repetition on Lust "For the direct knowledge of lust, monks, eleven things are to be developed. Which eleven? The first jhana, the second jhana, the third jhana, the fourth jhana, the liberation of mind by loving-kindness, the liberation of mind by compassion, the liberation of mind by appreciative joy, the liberation of mind by equanimity, the base of infinite space, the base of infinite consciousness, the base of nothingness – for the direct knowledge of lust, monks, these eleven things are to be developed." "For the full understanding of lust, monks, ...for its utter destruction... ...for its abandonment... ...for its destruction... ...for its fading away... ...for dispassion towards it... ...for its cessation... ...for its relinquishment... ...for its giving up – these eleven things are to be developed." "For the direct knowledge of hatred, monks, ...and so on... for delusion... for anger... for hostility... for denigration... for domineering... for envy... for stinginess... for deceit... for craftiness... for stubbornness... for presumption... for conceit... for excessive conceit... for intoxication... for heedlessness – for direct knowledge, ...and so on for full understanding, utter destruction, abandonment, destruction, fading away, dispassion, cessation, relinquishment, and giving up – these eleven things are to be developed." This the Blessed One said. Delighted, those monks rejoiced in the Blessed One’s words. The Repetition on Lust is concluded. Nine thousand suttas, and more than five hundred; Fifty-seven suttas, are included in the Anguttara. The Pāli of the Book of Elevens is concluded. The Anguttara Nikaya is finished.
