(20) 5. The Chapter on Other Persons Discourses on Not to be Associated With, etc. 199. "Monks, a person endowed with ten qualities should not be associated with. Which ten? He is a killer of living beings, he is a taker of what is not given, he is a wrongdoer in sensual pleasures, he is a speaker of falsehood, he is a speaker of divisive speech, he is a speaker of harsh speech, he is a speaker of idle chatter, he is covetous, his mind is ill-willed, he has wrong view. Monks, a person endowed with these ten qualities should not be associated with. "Monks, a person endowed with ten qualities should be associated with. Which ten? He abstains from killing living beings, he abstains from taking what is not given, he abstains from wrong conduct in sensual pleasures, he abstains from false speech, he abstains from divisive speech, he abstains from harsh speech, he abstains from idle chatter, he is not covetous, his mind is not ill-willed, he has right view. Monks, a person endowed with these ten qualities should be associated with." 200-209.
