An angry person kills many selves, Deluded in various forms. With a sword they kill themselves, Deluded, they eat poison; Bound by a rope, they die, From mountains or in caves. Deeds of killing beings, And deeds of self-killing; Doing them, they do not understand, That ruin is born of anger. Thus this, in the form of anger, Is a snare of death, dwelling in the heart; One should eradicate it with self-control, With wisdom, energy, and right view. Just as this unwholesome thing, A wise person should eradicate; So too should one train in the Dhamma, So that no unseemliness arises for us. Free from anger, free from trouble, Free from greed, free from anxiety; Tamed, having abandoned anger, They attain Nibbana, free from defilements.
