2. Repetition Section on Precepts 1. Discourse on Monks 286. Monks, a bhikkhu endowed with five qualities is cast into hell as if brought there. Which five? He takes life, he takes what is not given, he is unchaste, he speaks falsehood, he is given to intoxicating drinks, a cause of heedlessness. Monks, a bhikkhu endowed with these five qualities is cast into hell as if brought there. Monks, a bhikkhu endowed with five qualities is cast into heaven as if brought there. Which five? He abstains from taking life, he abstains from taking what is not given, he abstains from unchastity, he abstains from false speech, he abstains from intoxicating drinks, a cause of heedlessness. Monks, a bhikkhu endowed with these five qualities is cast into heaven as if brought there. The first. 2-7. The Six Discourses Beginning with the Discourse on Bhikkhunis 287-292. Monks, a bhikkhuni, a female trainee, a novice monk, a novice nun, a male lay follower, a female lay follower, endowed with five qualities is cast into hell as if brought there. Which five? Indeed, monks, an Ajivaka endowed with these five qualities, is cast into hell just as he is brought. The Eighth. Monks, a Nigantha, a shaven disciple, a matted-hair ascetic, a wandering ascetic, a Magandika, a Tedaṇḍika, an Āruddhaka, a Gotamaka, a Devadhammika, each endowed with five qualities, is cast into hell just as he is brought. By which five?
