"I shall teach you, monks, a bad person, and a bad person worse than a bad person; and a good person, and a good person better than a good person. Listen to that... and so on... And what, monks, is a bad person? Here, monks, someone has wrong view... and so on... has wrong knowledge, has wrong liberation. This is called, monks, a bad person. And what, monks, is a bad person worse than a bad person? Here, monks, someone himself has wrong view, and he establishes others in wrong view... and so on... himself has wrong knowledge, and he establishes others in wrong knowledge; himself has wrong liberation, and he establishes others in wrong liberation. This is called, monks, a bad person worse than a bad person. And what, monks, What, monks, is a good person? Here, monks, some individual has right view… has right knowledge, has right liberation. This, monks, is called a good person. And what, monks, is better than a good person? Here, monks, some individual himself has right view, and encourages others in right view… himself has right knowledge, and encourages others in right knowledge; himself has right liberation, and encourages others in right liberation. This, monks, is called better than a good person. 7. The First Discourse on Evil Qualities Monks, I will teach you evil, and worse than evil; and good, and better than good. Here, monks, some individual himself is a killer of living beings, and encourages others in killing living beings… himself has wrong view, and encourages others in wrong view. This, monks, is called worse than evil. What, monks, is good? Here, monks, some individual abstains from killing living beings… has right view. This, monks, is called good. And what, monks, is better than good? Here, monks, some individual himself abstains from killing living beings, and encourages others in abstaining from killing living beings… himself has right view, and encourages others in right view. This, monks, is called better than good. 8. The Second Discourse on Evil Qualities Monks, I will teach you evil, and worse than evil; and good, and better than good. Listen to that, pay careful attention; I will speak. Thus… said this: What And what, monks, is an evil one? Here, monks, some individual has wrong view... has wrong knowledge, has wrong liberation. This, monks, is called an evil one. And what, monks, is more evil than an evil one? And what, monks, are evil qualities? Here, monks, some individual is a killer of living beings... has wrong view. This, monks, is called evil qualities. And what, monks, are qualities more evil than evil? Here, monks, some individual himself kills living beings, and encourages others to kill living beings... himself has wrong view, and encourages others in wrong view. This, monks, is called qualities more evil than evil. And what, monks, are good qualities? Here, monks, some individual abstains from killing living beings... has right view. he is. This, monks, is called one of good qualities. “And what, monks, is one of better qualities than one of good qualities? Here, monks, a certain one himself abstains from the destruction of life, and he encourages others to abstain from the destruction of life… …he himself is of right view, and he encourages others to right view.
