12. The Chapter on Non-Offences 150. Those monks, O bhikkhus, who declare a non-offence to be an offence, those monks, O bhikkhus, practice for the harm of many people, for the unhappiness of many people, for the non-welfare, harm, and suffering of many people, of gods and humans. And those monks, O bhikkhus, generate much demerit, they cause this true Dhamma to disappear. The First. 151. Those monks, O bhikkhus, who declare an offence to be a non-offence, those monks, O bhikkhus, practice for the harm of many people, for the unhappiness of many people, for the non-welfare, harm, and suffering of many people, of gods and humans. And those monks, O bhikkhus, generate much demerit, they cause this true Dhamma to disappear. The Second. 152-159. Those monks, O bhikkhus, who declare a light offence to be a heavy offence... who declare a heavy offence to be a light offence... who declare a grave offence to be a non-grave offence... who declare a non-grave offence to be a grave offence... who declare an offence with remainder to be an offence without remainder... who declare an offence without remainder to be an offence with remainder... who declare an offence with remedy to be an offence without remedy... who declare an offence without remedy to be an offence with remedy, those monks, O bhikkhus, practice for the harm of many people, for the unhappiness of many people, for the non-welfare, harm, and suffering of many people, of gods and humans. And those monks, O bhikkhus, generate much demerit, they cause this true Dhamma to disappear. The Tenth. 160. Those monks, O bhikkhus, who declare a non-offence to be a non-offence, those monks, O bhikkhus, practice for the welfare of many people, for the happiness of many people, for the welfare, benefit, and happiness of many people, of gods and humans. And those monks, O bhikkhus, generate much merit, they establish this true Dhamma. The Eleventh. 161. Those monks, O bhikkhus, who declare an offence to be an offence, those monks, O bhik They are practicing for the welfare of many, for the happiness of many, for the good, welfare, and happiness of many people, of gods and humans. And those monks, bhikkhus, generate much merit. They establish this true Dhamma. The twelfth. Bhikkhus, those monks who declare a light offence as a light offence, declare a heavy offence as a heavy offence, declare a gross offence as a gross offence, declare a not-gross offence as a not-gross offence, declare an offence with remainder as an offence with remainder, declare an offence without remainder as an offence without remainder, declare an offence with remedy as an offence with remedy, declare an offence without remedy as an offence without remedy— those monks, bhikkhus, are practicing for the welfare of many, for the happiness of many, for the good, welfare, and happiness of many people, of gods and humans.
