Because of being endowed with unwavering faith in the Saṅgha, friend Moggallāna, some beings, with the breaking up of the body, after death, are reborn in a good destination, a heavenly world... They surpass other devas in ten ways: in divine life-span… in divine touches. It is good, O King of Devas, to be endowed with unwavering faith in the Sangha: ‘The Sangha of the Blessed One’s disciples is practicing well, the Sangha of the Blessed One’s disciples is practicing uprightly, the Sangha of the Blessed One’s disciples is practicing for the sake of knowledge, the Sangha of the Blessed One’s disciples is practicing properly, that is, the four pairs of men, the eight individual persons — this Sangha of the Blessed One’s disciples is worthy of offerings, worthy of hospitality, worthy of gifts, worthy of reverential salutation, an unsurpassed field of merit for the world.’ For indeed, O King of Devas, by reason of being endowed with unwavering faith in the Sangha, some beings here, with the breaking up of the body, after death, reappear in a good destination, a heavenly world. It is good, O King of Devas, to be endowed with the virtues cherished by the noble ones, which are unbroken, Flawless, unspotted, unblemished, liberating, praised by the wise, untarnished, conducive to concentration. They surpass other devas in ten ways: by divine life-span, by divine beauty, by divine happiness, by divine fame, by divine sovereignty, by divine forms, by divine sounds, by divine smells, by divine tastes, by divine touches. ‘‘It is good, friend Moggallāna, to be endowed with unwavering faith in the Buddha – ‘Indeed, that Blessed One is… teacher of gods and humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One.’ Because of being endowed with unwavering faith in the Buddha, O friend Moggallāna, some beings here, with the breaking up of the body, after death, are reborn in a good destination, a heavenly world.
