The arising, persistence, manifestation, appearance of the nose, that is the arising of suffering, the persistence of diseases, the appearance of old age and death. The arising, persistence, manifestation, appearance of tongue-consciousness, that is the arising of suffering, the persistence of diseases, the appearance of old age and death. The arising, persistence, manifestation, appearance of body-consciousness, that is the arising of suffering, the persistence of diseases, the appearance of old age and death. The Third. 4. The Discourse on Contact At Sāvatthī. "Indeed, monks, the arising, persistence of eye-contact... is the manifestation of aging-and-death... ...the arising, persistence of mind-contact... is the manifestation of aging-and-death. And indeed, monks, the cessation of eye-contact... is the cessation of aging-and-death... ...the cessation of mind-contact... is the cessation of aging-and-death." The Fourth. 5. The Discourse on Born of Contact At Sāvatthī. "Indeed, monks, the arising, persistence of feeling born of eye-contact... is the manifestation of aging-and-death... The arising, persistence of feeling born of mind-contact... is the manifestation of aging-and-death. And indeed, monks, the cessation, calming of feeling born of eye-contact... is the cessation of aging-and-death... ...the cessation, calming, disappearance of feeling born of mind-contact, this is the cessation of suffering, the calming of diseases, the cessation of aging-and-death." The Fifth. 6. The Discourse on Perception At Sāvatthī. "Indeed, monks, the arising, persistence of perception of forms... is the manifestation of aging-and-death... ...the arising, persistence, generation, manifestation of perception of mental phenomena, this is the arising of suffering, the persistence of diseases, the manifestation of aging-and-death. And indeed, monks, the cessation of perception of forms... is the cessation of aging-and-death... ...the cessation, calming, disappearance of perception of mental phenomena, this is the cessation of suffering, the calming of diseases, the cessation of aging-and-death." The Sixth. 7. The Discourse on Volition At Sāvatthī. "Indeed, monks, the arising, persistence of volition regarding forms... is the manifestation of aging-and-death... ...the arising, persistence, generation, manifestation of volition regarding mental phenomena, this is the arising of suffering, the persistence of diseases, the manifestation of aging-and-death. And indeed, monks, the volition regarding forms That cessation… the disappearance of aging and death… that cessation, calming, disappearance of mental volition regarding phenomena, this is the cessation of suffering, the calming of diseases, the disappearance of aging and death.” The Seventh. 8. The Discourse on Craving 319. Occasion at Sāvatthī. “Indeed, monks, that arising, persistence of craving for forms… the manifestation of aging and death… that arising, persistence, coming into being, manifestation of craving for mental phenomena, this is the arising of suffering, the persistence of diseases, the manifestation of aging and death. And indeed, monks, that cessation of craving for forms… the disappearance of aging and death… that cessation, calming, disappearance of craving for mental phenomena, this is the cessation of suffering, the calming of diseases, the disappearance of aging and death.” The Eighth. 9. The Discourse on Elements 320. Occasion at Sāvatthī. “Indeed, monks, that arising, persistence, coming into being, manifestation of the earth element… the manifestation of aging and death; that of the water element… that of the fire element… that of the air element… that of the space element… that arising, persistence, coming into being, manifestation of the consciousness element, this is the arising of suffering, the persistence of diseases, the manifestation of aging and death. And indeed, monks, that cessation of the earth element… the disappearance of aging and death; that cessation of the water element… that cessation of the fire element… that cessation of the air element… that cessation of the space element… that cessation, calming, disappearance of the consciousness element, this is the cessation of suffering, the calming of diseases, the disappearance of aging and death.” The Ninth. 10. The Discourse on Aggregates 321. Occasion at Sāvatthī. “Indeed, monks, that arising, persistence, coming into being, manifestation of form, this is the arising of suffering, the persistence of diseases, the manifestation of aging and death. That of feeling… that of perception… that of volitional formations… that arising, persistence, coming into being, manifestation of consciousness, this is the arising of suffering, the persistence of diseases, the manifestation of aging and death. And indeed, monks, that cessation, calming, disappearance of form, This is the cessation of suffering, The appeasement of diseases, The disappearance of old age and death.
