"As the moon in a sky free of clouds, Shines forth, radiant and pure; So too, O Aṅgīrasa, great sage, You outshine all the world in glory." 12. Vaṅgīsa Sutta 220. At one time, the venerable Vaṅgīsa was dwelling in Sāvatthī, in Jeta's Grove, Anāthapiṇḍika's monastery. At that time, the venerable Vaṅgīsa, having recently attained arahantship, was experiencing the bliss of liberation. On that occasion, he uttered these verses: "Intoxicated with poetry, we wandered before, from village to village, from town to town; Then we saw the Fully Enlightened One, and faith arose in us. "He taught me the Dhamma, the aggregates, sense bases, and elements; Having heard his Dhamma, I went forth into homelessness. "For the good of many, indeed, the sage attained awakening; For monks and nuns, who saw the path to the sure destination. "Well-come, indeed, was my coming, in the presence of the Buddha; The three knowledges have been attained, the Buddha's teaching has been done. "I know my past lives, my divine eye is purified; I am one with the three knowledges, endowed with psychic powers, skilled in knowing the minds of others." The Vaṅgīsa Saṃyutta is concluded. Its summary: Nikkhanta, Arati, Pesalā, Atimaññanā; Ānandena Subhāsitā, Sāriputtapavāraṇā; Parosahassaṃ, Koṇḍañño, Moggallānena Gaggarā; Vaṅgīsena Dvādasāti.
