"'We shall see the one who has transcended the flood, the taintless, The one who has crossed the flood, the great being, like the moon beyond darkness.' Subrahmā and Paramatta, with the powerful sons. Sanaṅkumāra and Tissa, he too came to the assembly in the forest. The Great Brahmā presides over a thousand Brahma-worlds; Born radiant, with a formidable body, of great fame. These ten lords came, each having power over themselves; And from their midst came Hārita, surrounded. And when all those had come forth, with Indra and the Brahmas. Māra's army came forth, behold the blindness of the Dark One. 'Come, seize, bind, let them be bound by passion; Surround them completely, let no one escape.' Thus there, the great army, the Dark One sent his army; Striking his palm with his hand, making a sound dreadful forest. "Just as a rainy season cloud, Thundering with lightning; Then he rushed back, Enraged, unrestrained. Having fully known all that, Having discerned, the One with Vision. Then the Teacher addressed His disciples, devoted to the teaching. "Māra's army has advanced, Know them, O monks; And they exerted themselves, Having heard the Buddha's teaching; From those free from passion they departed, Not even their hairs did stir. "'All victorious in battle, Gone beyond fear, glorious; They rejoice with the devas, Those disciples renowned among people.'" The Great Assembly Sutta, the seventh, is concluded.
