Whoever recites it incurs an offense of wrong-doing. Bhikkhus, the Uposatha should not be performed by giving purification to one on probation, except when the assembly has not yet risen. The third recitation section is finished. The second chapter, Uposatha. 106. Its summary Heretics and Bimbisāra, to assemble silently; the Dhamma in secret, the Pātimokkha, daily, then once. Directly, the Rains Uposatha, and the purification act, relatives; Gagga, four, three, two, one, remembered similar offenses. The whole Saṅgha is in doubt, the learned do not know; many are equal, few, and the assembly not having risen. Some having risen, all, and they know, and are in doubt; "It is proper!" and remorse, knowing, seeing, and hearing. By the resident, the newcomer, again, the fourteenth or fifteenth; the first day or the fifteenth, both sharing the same status. The Uposatha for those on probation, except for the unity of the Saṅgha; these are the divided summaries, because of the distinct matters. In this chapter there are eighty-six matters.
