"Let it be with a designated site, and without commencing (new work), and with an open space around it." A bhikkhu, having instructed, departs, saying: "Make a hut for me." And he instructs: "Let it be with a designated site, and without commencing (new work), and with an open space around it." They make a hut for him with a designated site, with commencing (new work), without an open space around it. He hears: "A hut is being made for me, it seems, with a designated site, with commencing (new work), without an open space around it." That bhikkhu should either go himself or send a messenger: "And let it be without commencing (new work) and with an open space around it." If he does not go himself or send a messenger, there is an offense of wrong-doing. A bhikkhu, having instructed, departs, saying: "Make a hut for me." And he instructs: "Let it be with a designated site, and without commencing (new work), and with an open space around it." They make a hut for him with a designated site, with commencing (new work), with an open space around it. He hears: "A hut is being made for me, it seems, with a designated site, with commencing (new work), with an open space around it." That bhikkhu should either go himself or send a messenger: "Let it be without commencing (new work)." If he does not go himself or send or send a messenger, there is an offense of dukkata. A bhikkhu, having given instructions, departs: “Make a hut for me.” And he instructs: “Let it be on a designated site, without disturbance, and with a surrounding path.” They make a hut for him on a designated site, without disturbance, without a surrounding path. He hears: “Indeed, a hut is being made for me on a designated site, without disturbance, without a surrounding path.” That bhikkhu should either go himself or send a messenger: “Let it have a surrounding path.” If he does not either go himself or send a messenger, there is an offense of dukkata. A bhikkhu, having given instructions, departs: “Make a hut for me.” And he instructs: “Let it be on a designated site, without disturbance, and with a surrounding path.” They make a hut for him on a designated site, without disturbance, with a surrounding path. There is no offense. 359. A bhikkhu, having given instructions, departs: “Make a hut for me.” And he instructs: “Let it be of the proper size, without disturbance, and with a surrounding path.” They make a hut for him exceeding the proper size, with disturbance, without a surrounding path. He hears: “Indeed, a hut is being made for me exceeding the proper size, with disturbance, without a surrounding path.” That bhikkhu should either go himself or send a messenger: “Let it be of the proper size, without disturbance, and with a surrounding path.” …(and so on)… “Let it be of the proper size and without disturbance.” …(and so on)… “Let it be of the proper size and with a surrounding path.” …(and so on)… “Let it be of the proper size.” If he does not either go himself or send a messenger, An offense of wrong-doing. A bhikkhu, having given instructions, departs – "Make a hut for me." And he instructs – "Let it be of standard size, and without much effort, and with a surrounding space." They make a hut for him, of standard size, with much effort, without a surrounding space. He hears – "Indeed, a hut is being made for me, of standard size, with much effort, without a surrounding space." By that bhikkhu, either he himself should go, or a messenger should be sent – "Let it be without much effort, and with a surrounding space." ...and so on... "Let it be without much effort." ...and so on... "Let it be with a surrounding space." ...and so on... No offense. 360. A bhikkhu, having given instructions, departs – "Make a hut for me." And he instructs – "Let it have the site shown, and be of standard size, and without much effort, and with a surrounding space." They make a hut for him, without the site shown, exceeding the standard size, with much effort, without a surrounding space. He hears – "Indeed, a hut is being made for me, without the site shown, exceeding the standard size, with much effort, without a surrounding space." By that bhikkhu, either he himself should go, or a messenger should be sent – "Let it have the site shown, and be of standard size, and without much effort, and with a surrounding space." ...and so on... "Let it have the site shown, and be of standard size, and without much effort." ...and so on... "Let it have the site shown, and be of standard size, and with a surrounding space." ...and so on... "Let it have the site shown, and be of standard size." If he does not go himself, or does not send a messenger, an offense of wrong-doing. It should be with a designated site, of proper measure, without disturbance, and easy to move. They make his hut with a designated site, of proper measure, with disturbance, and not easy to move. He hears: "My hut is being made with a designated site, of proper measure, with disturbance, and not easy to move." That bhikkhu should go himself or send a messenger: "Let it be without disturbance and easy to move." ... "Let it be without disturbance." ... "Let it be easy to move." ... There is no offense. A bhikkhu gives instructions and departs: "Make a hut for me." And he instructs: "Let it be with a designated site, without disturbance, and easy to move." They make his hut without a designated site, with disturbance, and not easy to move. There is an offense of three wrongdoings for the builders. ... with disturbance, and easy to move. An offense of two wrong-doings for the workers... without much effort, with a surrounding path. An offense of a wrong-doing for the workers. They make a hut for him of proper measure, with much effort, without a surrounding path. An offense of two wrong-doings for the workers... with much effort, with a surrounding path. An offense of a wrong-doing for the workers... without much effort, without a surrounding path. An offense of a wrong-doing for the workers... without much effort, with a surrounding path. They make a hut for him on an undesignated site, exceeding the measure, with much effort, without a surrounding path. An offense of four wrong-doings for the workers... with much effort, with a surrounding path. An offense of three wrong-doings for the workers... without much effort, without a surrounding path. An offense of three wrong-doings for the workers... without much effort, with a surrounding path. Offense for the workers: two offenses of wrong-doing. If he returns when it is unfinished, that bhikkhu must give that hut to another, or break it down and make it again. If he does not give it to another, or break it down and make it again, offense of Sanghādisesa, (and) two offenses of wrong-doing.
