The Tantra of the Four Samaya Establishments. @##. In Sanskrit: Samaya Agra Jata Tantra. In Tibetan: Called the Jewel Ornament of the Root Tantra of the Establishment of Vows. Homage to the Bhagavan, Glorious Samantabhadra! Thus have I heard at one time. The Bhagavan, Glorious Samantabhadra, was dwelling in the great and supreme realm of Akanishta. At that time, Glorious Vajrasattva requested the Dharma of Yangti, and Samantabhadra replied: The quintessential instructions of the oral transmission are threefold: The single Buddha, The unified samaya, And the symbolic example. The Chapter on the Symbolic Buddha is the first. Vajrasattva asked: The single Buddha is the wisdom of awareness, without substance, not established by the three kayas. Why? Because there is no mistaken appearance. The symbol is the appearance of eye consciousness. The meaning is the spontaneously accomplished wisdom itself. The sound is the A of Jñana Kaya (ཛྙཱ་ན་ཀཱ་ཡའི་ཨ,jñānakāya'i a,the A of the Wisdom Body). The single Buddha is without difference in view, without bardo in dharmata, without arising in wisdom, without a moment in the dharmakaya, without gathering and scattering in the three kayas, without change in essence, without acceptance or rejection in prajna, and without dualistic appearance in the single bindu. The scripture also says: "Show non-duality as non-dual." It is clear that Buddhas and sentient beings are non-dual. The Chapter on Symbolic Meaning is the second. Samantabhadra replied: The unified samaya is the single black golden pill of Yangti. For example, on a precious golden stone, Birds, dogs, and statues, Although made in various ways, the nature of gold does not change. It does not become better or worse, Although the forms are different, the essence does not change from gold. Likewise, the unified samaya, If the meaning of the single bindu is understood, then there is no need to protect dualistic appearances. If there is protection, then it is not Yangti. If there is protection, then it is not single. If there is dualistic appearance, then it is dualistic clinging. One will stray into the groups of individual births. Because of straying, it is not the samaya of Yangti. The scripture also says: Know that great samaya itself, The thoughts of the senses are known by the supreme one. The symbol is the self-liberation and self-arising of the five poisons. The sound is the E of Samaya Trikaya (སཾ་ཡ་ཏྲི་ཀ་ཡའི་ཨེ,saṃaya trikāya'i e,the E of the Samaya Three Bodies).

Oṃ. Thus it was said. The chapter on signs, sounds, and meanings, the third (chapter). Samantabhadra said: One example of symbolism is: The great ocean is a symbol of the three bodies. The vast sky is a symbol of great compassion. The king of medicines, camphor, is a symbol of medicine, poison, and food. These are the three external symbols. The symbol of essence, nature, and compassion, that is the symbol of the basis of delusion. The three hermaphrodites are symbols of sentient beings. The three appearances are symbols of delusion. These are the four internal symbols. Desire, hatred, and ignorance are symbols of the single bindu. The five poisons are symbolized by the five wisdoms. The six realms are symbolized by self-arisen wisdom. Grasping and being grasped, awareness is symbolized by wisdom. These are the four secret symbols. The meaning of sound is as follows: The sound of wisdom is the letter ཧ(Tibetan, Devanagari, ve, Literal meaning: Ha). The sound of space is the letter མ(Tibetan, Devanagari, ma, Literal meaning: Ma). The sound of play is the letter འ(Tibetan, Devanagari, a, Literal meaning: A). That is the nature of sound. For the yogi who realizes the meaning, the superior, intermediate, and inferior have been shown. The superior faculties, in play, attain Buddha, Dharma, and Nirvana, the nature of things and the way of abiding, without the bardo, they are naturally liberated. The nature of the intermediate and inferior is, now recognized in the bardo and attaining Buddhahood, is the nature of the Great Perfection path. The way sentient beings' minds appear in samsara is that the intermediate and inferior are liberated in the bardo.
