Verses of Auspiciousness Verses of Auspiciousness. I prostrate to the Three Jewels! May the auspiciousness of the gods, which accomplishes meaning, and which makes all directions auspicious, accomplish all your aims! May everything quickly be in harmony! Just as a garland rests on the head, may wealth be in the right hand! May wealth also abide in the left hand! May all limbs also have wealth! Merchants seeking wealth, going to the ten directions, may they obtain great gain! May they be happy and joyful! For whatever purpose, if going to the east, may the stars that dwell in that direction protect you! The Pleiades and Aldebaran, Antares and Hasta, Gamma Virginis and Spica, Arcturus and Libra, these are the eastern stars. These seven stars are famous for protecting the world, and are said to be in the eastern direction. May they always protect you! The king who is the lord of these, named Dhritarashtra, is the lord of all Gandharvas, may he protect you together with the sun! He has many sons, intelligent and with the same name, ninety-one sons, all with great power, named Indra. May they keep you free from illness and especially protect auspiciousness! On the eastern side, there are eight young goddesses: Victory and Supreme Victory, Accomplishment and Invincible, Joyful and Happy, Delightful and Increasing Delight. May they keep you free from illness and especially protect auspiciousness! On the eastern side, there is a stupa called Foundation. All the victorious saviors, the Arhats, dwell and know there. May it also keep you free from illness and especially protect auspiciousness! May you be well in all directions! May you not commit sins! May the gods protect you, and may you return having obtained wealth! For whatever purpose, if going to the south, may the stars that dwell in that direction protect you! Those are the world-protectors, the renowned ones, shown to be in the southern direction. May they always protect you. Their lord is the king, known as 'Noble-born.' He is the lord of all vessels, may he protect together with Yama. He has many sons, wise and with the same name, ninety-one in all, named 'Powerful,' the mighty ones. May they keep you free from illness and especially protect you with auspiciousness. In the corner of the southern direction, there are eight young goddesses: Glorious Mother and Renowned Mother, Fame-Obtained and Fame-Holder, Well-Standing and Very Early, Well-Awakened and Happiness-Accomplishing. May they keep you free from illness and especially protect you with auspiciousness. In the corner of the southern direction, there is a stupa called 'Lotus.' It always blazes with splendor, always illuminating everything. May it also keep you free from illness and especially protect you with auspiciousness. May you be happy in this direction. May you not commit sins. Having been well-protected by all the gods, may you find wealth and return. For whatever needs, if going to the west, may the constellations dwelling in that direction protect you. Divine Boundary and Mula, as well as Industrious Dependent Mula, and Upper Water, Lower Water, Chitra, and Revati, that is the seventh. These seven constellations, the world-protectors, the renowned ones, are shown to be in the western direction. May they always protect you. Their lord is the king, known as 'Good-Eyed.' He is the lord of all nagas, may he protect together with the water god. He has many sons, wise and with the same name, ninety-one in all, named 'Powerful,' the mighty ones. May they keep you free from illness and especially protect you with auspiciousness. In the corner of the western direction, there are eight young goddesses: Earring-Firm Mother, and White Lotus and Dawn, Unaccompanied One and Ninth, Playful One and Black One and Swift-Moving Accomplisher. May they keep you free from illness and especially protect you with auspiciousness. In the corner of the western direction, there is a mountain called 'West.'
