The Sprout of Bodhichitta. The Sprout of Bodhichitta. Homage to the Bhagavan, Glorious Samantabhadra. Just as a sprout naturally arises from a tree of assembled causes and conditions, in an unfabricated state, the nature abides. Because it abides, an objectless sprout arises. In the uncontrived mind of enlightenment, a sprout arises. Because it does not depend on causes, it cannot be destroyed by conditions. That sprout, without arising or ceasing, because it does not fixate on objects, the mind has no change. Through the union of object and mind without gathering or scattering, a sprout arises. Because there is no cessation in it, it is regarded as great liberation. Because there is no change in the three times, it is the mind of enlightenment. Because it is spontaneously accomplished without dependence, appearance and existence are primordially enlightened. In the great samaya that needs no protection, a sprout arises with the confidence of being primordially protected. From the great aim that needs no meditation, without straying from its own state, it rests in great equanimity. In the great enlightenment free from elaboration and conceptualization, the unsurpassed sprout arises, free from grasping and being grasped. In the great sprout that does not depend on causes, the sprout of qualities arises, free from conditions. The five elements themselves are primordially enlightened, the sprout of the mandala of deities of appearance and existence arises. This king of pith instructions of the Bodhichitta, all are primordially enlightened. Because the six aggregates are pure in their place, that thought which is sought, because there is no obscuration in the transmission, it is the sprout of pith instructions. Because there is no doubt in the mind, it is the basis of all Buddhas. Because the three poisons are cut from the root, it is the mind of enlightenment. It liberates all of samsara. The sprout of Bodhichitta is complete.
